More Than 80 Local Churches Burglarized; Suspect Arrested Man Faces Numerous Charges, Could Face More LOUISVILLE -- The places where people go to wash away their sins is apparently becoming where others are going to commit them. At least 85 churches have been burglarized all over Metro Louisville in the past six months, mostly at night, WLKY NewsChannel 32 reported. One man was caught in connection with the crimes, but not all them are solved. Metro police arrested Robert Spurgeon, 37, two weeks ago. He now faces 15 burglary charges. Investigators said a few dozen more cases could be linked to Spurgeon, and added that he could face indictments soon, WLKY reported. Police also said he may have worked with an accomplice, or there might be a copycat. "(The churches) are easy targets," Metro Police Detective Rick Arnold said. "Most people know, and he knew for sure, that they weren't alarmed. There were no security systems that would prevent him from making entry." www.thelouisvillechannel.com/news/3424622/detail.html
